THE COLLYDE STORY BEGAN IN 2006…

Our story begins in 2006, when our founder, Jinu Thomas, was desperately seeking God’s face. He was wanting a change in his life and his ambitions. God gave Jinu a dream, which he scribbled on a piece of paper; it read “create a meeting place where belief and unbelief collides in a perfect collision.” (Read more from our founder here: www.iamacollyder.com)

Over the next seven years, God would refine, direct, teach, guide and lead Collyde to become an organization that inspires, equips and supports you to live out your calling. God brought together an amazing team of brothers and sisters to launch three entities within Collyde.

Collyde.com is a platform that enables churches and organizations to start “projects” that recruit volunteers, raise funding and mobilize mission trips. Individuals can raise funds for their upcoming mission trip.

Collyde Summit is a gathering of passionate believers in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area, who love Jesus and are convicted to become world changers.

Inner Circle is a peer group of 12 Senior Pastors that meets with three intentional goals: personal encouragement, missional revolution and leadership development.

If you are reading this story, we urge you: join us, support us and get involved. God has a specific purpose and calling for your life. He is authoring a story in you. As you live generously and love unconditionally, God will use you to change the world. Jump In. Let’s Collyde. We believe, when we “collyde,” we can make the world a better place.

THE COLLYDE STATEMENT OF FAITH

ONE ETERNAL GOD
We affirm our belief in the one-eternal God, Creator and Lord of the world, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who governs all things according to the purpose of his will.

THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURES
We affirm the divine inspiration, truthfulness and authority of both Old and New Testament Scriptures in their entirety as the only written word of God, without error in all that it affirms, and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
We affirm that there is only one Savior, Jesus, and only one gospel, The Bible, although there is a wide diversity of evangelistic approaches.

JUSTICE AND RECONCILIATION
We affirm that God is both the Creator and the Judge of all people. We therefore should share his concern for justice and reconciliation throughout human society and for the liberation of men and women from every kind of oppression.

THE HOLY SPIRIT We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Father sent his Spirit to bear witness to his Son; without his witness ours is futile. Conviction of sin, faith in Christ, new birth and Christian growth are all his work.

* We believe in a statement of faith as articulated in the Lausanne Covenant.

God’s greatest story

Jesus has risen! Jesus has conquered the grave! Jesus has OVERCOME! Happy Easter! This day is a perfect time for us as a Collyde community to reflect on the theme for the Collyde Summit 2014 and really wrestle with the weight of this three-syllabled word: OV-ER-COME. OVERCOME is a word that packs a lot of power, hope, as […]

Calling

The word “calling” is one you’ll hear pretty often in and around the church. We throw it around so much, that sometimes I wonder if it has lost it’s gusto; I wonder if the word has become so worn we hardly pay much attention to it anymore. In an article published by RELEVANT Magazine earlier this month, […]

Fundraising for your organization

The thought occurred to me recently: I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a conversation without hearing, or making, some reference to Facebook. Social media has become so entrenched in our culture, there seems to be little divide between what happens online and offline. Speculations on the effects of this interconnectivity run rampant. Sociologists […]

OVERCOME

How do you go about explaining something to someone, when you know they aren’t going to understand? Anyone who has spent time around children knows this well. Though you can try to speak their language—using food and animal metaphors—sometimes they still don’t get it. I’d imagine Jesus experienced the full weight of this struggle, as […]

Crowdfunding in the church

I love the start of new years. I love the idea of second chances, setting goals, and doing things differently. All of these things excite me, and there’s something about the end of an old, the turning of a new, that generates neat perspectives and predictions. These perspectives found themselves thrown around the internet earlier […]

Collyde Summit 2014

There was an eagerness in the room that June morning. People from all over New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania gathered to worship, and learn more about God. Pastors, writers and artists spoke, teaching, admonishing and encouraging others in their faith. It was such a beautiful sight to behold: the community of believers, from many […]

Remembering The “Why”

The Great King came down as a baby; He put on skin to live among us. Having travelled a terribly long way—to save us from us—God, in fullness, stepped onto the stage that day. Imagine the joy surrounding His first cry: the long expected Jesus had come. Light of the world. His birth ushered forth […]

“GO” project page

There’s a lot of organizing that goes into mission trips. Once the need is established, volunteers are recruited, funds are raised; and, oftentimes—materials and plane tickets are purchased. All the logistics, from beginning to end, can be daunting. But, they don’t need to be. Collyde believes so strongly in the value of mission trips that […]

Season of GIVE projects

I like hearing the bells outside stores this time of year; a friendly, bundled up, volunteer greets me with a “Merry Christmas,” and asks if I’d like to donate. Fundraising is not a new concept, I’m reminded. These store-front collectors are there every year—it’s become a Christmas tradition. It’s the season of giving, but I’m […]

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU
